“This event was the commemoration of the arrival of American airborne troops in The Netherlands. My re-enactment group did a army camp and field hospital - 326th Airborne Medical Company, 101st Airborne Division.
I did all the trauma simulations for the medics and surgeons to treat; silicone prosthetics adhered with Telesis 8, colored with Skin Illustrators and bloodied up with Fleet Street Bloodworks. Removal with SuperSolv.”

Representing over 100 years of Hollywood film history curated and collected over the last 60 years, Icons of Darkness is on display to the public for the first time ever, offering a chance get up close and personal with hundreds of its most spectacular items. This exhibition is a unique opportunity to experience one of the world’s most extensive, privately-owned collections of authentic sci-fi, fantasy, and horror film memorabilia!
You’ll see screen-used props, original costumes, life casts, production-made maquettes, makeup effects heads, and artifacts from some of Hollywood’s most famous sci-fi, fantasy, and horror classics.

Adhering to local public health guidelines, The Montalbán will ensure that Icons of Darkness is a safe space for patrons by:
• Mandating face coverings for all staff, security, and guests.

The show is put on by the Vancouver Mens Chorus (@vmchorus) which is a Choir group that puts on multiple sold out shows a year. One of the annual productions is "Singing can be a Drag" Show. I have traditionally painted two of the Queens for the last 4-5 years.
Having two shows plus rehearsal its a 12 hour day. Makeup is done off site, and I’m not at the show to upkeep SO it has to stay allllll day, which it does every time!

My method is all brush application. Hedda Nipplegate has some serious eyebrows. Which brow blocks can be temperamental and removal is done at home by performer alone which using pros-aide or more MUFX route would make it difficult for personal removal. So using illustrator I match eyebrows to skin tone allowing to dry and layer pigment in between. Now perfect blank canvas to create brows using natural hair. For the face I use usually bdellium 945, like a dense rounded kabuki. I will have 3 or 4 of those brushes on the go as they will be designated to one colour so I can always go back to layer that tone again when needed. I use the illustrator in a thicker state with almost a dry brush method allowing for high pigment and soft blend ability, continually layering. It is Theatre so I want to keep those lines quite distinct yet still flawless for after show greetings. Lips outlined with illustrator also. Around the eyes is all gel eyeliners.

I did use Illustrator on @igoyarpus too. Both lip colours are illustrator layered with glitter.

Had to share 🖤The palette has two natural browns - ‘Freckles’ and ‘Age Spot’ - great for so many skin tones and they work beautifully together! Sirius Black played by Gary Oldman was a fabulous character to design and not a great deal changed from concept . For Azkaban Prison look I would lay on with loose crepe hair over Gary’s own stubble beard to give a longer more unkept look, I made skin tone paler and did a haggard/skeletal character makeup using @skinillustratorofficial , the tattoos and Azkaban numbers were made from my design by Dave Stoneman of Maekup . As Sirius character evolved into everyday look we made the skin tone more healthy and beard more dapper by shaping and laying on loose hair moustache as we shot out of continuity between looks during filming. Gary was fabulous to work with and attention to tiny details made this character feel very real.
